I know it looks as if we're advertising — and we are. But umpires have told us that Carl's two books about ruining baseball games were seminal in their advance as officials.

So, as Carl's granddaughter used to say, we kill two stones with one bird: Make a little money and train an amateur umpire, even if he doesn't want the book.

It's also important to remember that much of this material about game control is relevant to other sports.
